Job Summary:
The Director of Leadership Giving is responsible for managing a portfolio of lead donors and prospects through a collaborative process of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, in order to acquire the financial support necessary to implement the strategic plan for George School and to successfully meet the goal of its upcoming capital campaign. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Director of Leadership Giving is a critical member of George School’s development team and works closely with his or her peers and the Head of School to ensure that donors experience a seamless and positive relationship with the School.
Major duties and responsibilities:
· Manage a portfolio of leadership donors and donor prospects.
· Take primary responsibility for the solicitation of leadership gifts for all of George School’s capital fundraising efforts.
· Develop individual cultivation, involvement, and stewardship strategies for each of the donors and prospects assigned. Provide written visit reports and recommendations to the development team for stewardship and follow-up strategies.
· Ensure that donors feel known and valued, and that they experience a continuous and seamless relationship with George School.
· Provide input for the strategic and operational planning processes of the institutional advancement department.
· Travel between 30 percent and 50 percent of the time, including coordinated travel for development and admission functions when possible.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of experience as a development professional are required.
· Demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals and a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting, and securing major gifts.
· Proven relationship-building skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies.
· Willingness to work beyond traditional office hours, including evenings and weekends.
· Proficiency with Mac and PC systems and database management.
